Most people equate marketing with advertising, meaning that they think all they have to do to get customers is post a few ads or run a pay-per-click campaign on Google Adwords, sit back, and watch the money roll in. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Marketing is an action that must be done on a regular basis to be truly effective. You can’t set up a Facebook page or post a few tweets on Twitter and then stop after a month. You have to network with people, collaborate, and build relationships with customers in order to truly succeed with a business online. It’s important to set aside at least one hour each day or dedicate one day out of the week for marketing tasks. Whether it’s posting to your Facebook page, sending out a newsletter, or writing a blog post, do something so that people will not forget about you. Consistency is the key.
