An SEO audit is a detailed review of why a website does or doesn’t rank in Google. TLG Marketing checks your site’s technical setup, content, backlinks and competitors, plus whether your calls and form leads are being tracked, then delivers a prioritized list of fixes in plain English that your team or ours can act on.
When to get an audit
- Traffic or leads dropped. A sudden fall usually traces back to a site change, a Google update or a tracking error, and an audit tells you which.
- You’re planning a redesign. Knowing which pages earn traffic before you rebuild keeps you from losing them at launch.
- You inherited a site. New owners and new marketing managers need to know what they’re working with.
- Rankings stalled. You publish content and nothing moves, and you want to know whether the problem is technical, content or authority.
What the audit covers
- Technical health. Crawling, indexing, redirects, canonical tags, sitemaps, HTTPS, Core Web Vitals and how the site behaves on phones.
- On-page and content. Titles, headings, thin or duplicate pages, keyword targeting, and pages competing with each other for the same search.
- Backlinks. The quality of sites linking to you, links you’ve lost, and gaps against the sites that outrank you.
- Competitors. Which pages rank above yours and what they do differently.
- Conversion tracking. Whether GA4 records calls, form submissions and purchases. If it doesn’t, our GA4 setup and migration service can put it right.
What you get at the end
You receive a written report and a walkthrough call. Each issue comes with what it is, why it matters for your business, how to fix it and how much effort the fix takes, sorted so the changes most likely to bring in leads come first.
Your developers can work from the report directly, or we can. The people who write TLG audits also build websites, so we can carry out on-page fixes and page speed work ourselves. For ongoing guidance once the audit is done, see SEO consulting.

// Questions
SEO audit: common questions
How is an audit different from an SEO tool’s site score?
Automated tools flag hundreds of issues without telling you which ones matter. We use those tools as a starting point, then a person checks each finding against your goals, discards the noise and explains what to fix and why.
Do I have to hire you to fix what the audit finds?
No. The audit is yours to use however you like, whether that’s with your own developers, your current agency or us. If you’d like help, the people who wrote the findings can make the changes.
How often should a site be audited?
A full audit once a year suits most sites, with an extra check before and after any redesign, platform change or sharp drop in traffic. Sites that publish or change often benefit from lighter monitoring between full audits.
