TLG Marketing helps Hawaii businesses rank on Google on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island, for local residents and for visitors researching their trips, with island pages, map listings and reporting on calls, bookings and form leads. We’ve been a digital marketing agency since 2006, and our Long Beach, California team serves island clients remotely from the mainland.
How Hawaii searches differ
- Every island is a separate market. A plumber on Maui can’t serve Kauai, and Google treats each island’s searches separately. Oahu holds most of the state’s people, while Hawaii Island splits between Hilo on the wet east side and Kona on the dry west side.
- Two audiences search at once. Residents look for services close to home, while visitors from the mainland, Japan and elsewhere search for tours, rentals and restaurants weeks before they arrive. Tourism businesses need pages that rank in searches made thousands of miles away.
- Place names come in several spellings. People search for Hawaiʻi or Hawaii, Lānaʻi or Lanai, and Kailua can mean a town on Oahu or Kailua-Kona on Hawaii Island. Pages need to use names clearly enough that Google connects them to the right place.
- The military and the seasons shape demand. Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Schofield Barracks and Marine Corps Base Hawaii bring families who arrive and leave on military schedules, and visitor numbers swing with the winter holidays, summer travel and the big-wave season on the North Shore.
Working with TLG from anywhere in Hawaii
Setup starts island by island: a Google Business Profile for each location, with service areas that match where you really work. Then come island pages, plus town pages where they help, such as Kapolei, Kihei or Lihue, built with photos and details from your own jobs.
Hawaii chambers, visitor associations and local media are good sources of links. Your report breaks rankings, calls and leads out by island and shows how much of your traffic comes from outside the state.

// Questions
SEO in Hawaii: common questions
Do you work with businesses across Hawaii?
Yes, on every island. We work from Long Beach, California, and since every meeting is on video, it makes no difference whether you’re in Honolulu or Hanalei.
Does the time difference make it hard to work with a mainland agency?
Very little. Hawaii doesn’t observe daylight saving time, so it sits two hours behind California in winter and three hours behind in summer. Our hours, 8am to 5pm Pacific, overlap with your morning and early afternoon.
How long does SEO take to work?
Most sites see movement within three to six months; competitive searches take longer. Your roadmap sets expectations search by search, so you know what to expect and when.
How much do SEO services cost?
It depends on how competitive your market is and how much work your site needs. Tell us your monthly budget on the form and we’ll show you what it can realistically achieve.
Will you work on my existing website?
Yes. We work on WordPress, ecommerce platforms and custom-built sites. If the site itself is holding you back, our developers can fix it or rebuild it.
What do you need from me to get started?
Access to your website, Google Search Console and Google Analytics, and a 30-minute call about your customers, services and goals.
