Page speed optimization makes your website load and respond faster, especially on phones. TLG Marketing measures your key pages against Google’s Core Web Vitals, finds what’s slowing them down, and fixes it by compressing images, cutting unused CSS and JavaScript, setting up caching and improving server response. Faster pages keep more visitors around long enough to call or fill in a form.

Why slow pages cost you leads

A visitor who taps your ad or search listing and waits on a blank screen often hits the back button before your page appears. You paid for that click, or earned it through SEO, and lost it before they saw your offer.

Speed also affects where you rank. Core Web Vitals are part of how Google assesses page experience, so slow, jumpy pages can hold back otherwise strong content. Sites running paid campaigns, heavy imagery or years of accumulated plugins usually have the most to gain.

What we fix

  • Images and video. Resizing, modern formats such as WebP, and lazy loading for anything below the first screen.
  • CSS and JavaScript. Minifying files, removing unused code and deferring scripts that don’t need to load first.
  • Third-party scripts. Reviewing chat widgets, tag managers and tracking pixels that block rendering, without losing the data you rely on.
  • Caching and delivery. Browser and server caching, plus a content delivery network where it helps.
  • Layout shift. Reserving space for images, fonts and banners so buttons stay put while the page loads.
  • Server response. Database cleanup, PHP version and hosting checks, and advice when your plan is holding things up.

How we report the results

Before changing anything, we record lab scores and field data for your most important pages. When the work is done, you get the same measurements side by side with a list of what we changed. We also confirm that forms, call buttons and GA4 conversion tracking still fire correctly, because a faster page doesn’t help if leads stop recording.

Speed work pairs well with mobile SEO, and it’s built into every responsive site we design.

// How it works

From slow-page diagnosis to measured improvements

  1. Record the starting point

    We select important page templates and record available real-user data and repeatable lab measurements, keeping mobile and desktop results separate.

  2. Find the source of the delay

    We investigate server response, image and font delivery, JavaScript work and layout shifts to identify the changes most likely to help.

  3. Apply focused fixes

    We optimize the confirmed causes in assets, code and delivery settings while preserving the site design, forms and tracking.

  4. Retest the same pages

    We repeat the measurements under comparable conditions, check key interactions and document the results. Real-user reports are reviewed as fresh data becomes available.

// Questions

Page speed optimization: common questions

What are Core Web Vitals?

They are Google’s measures of page experience: how quickly the main content appears (Largest Contentful Paint), how fast the page responds to a tap or click (Interaction to Next Paint), and how much the layout jumps while loading (Cumulative Layout Shift). Google uses them in ranking, and they reflect how a page feels to use.

Do I need to change hosting?

Sometimes. If the server is slow to respond before the page even starts loading, front-end fixes can only do so much. We test server response first and only recommend a hosting change when it’s the real bottleneck.

Will a speed plugin fix my site?

Caching and image plugins help, but they can’t remove a heavy theme, unused scripts or a bloated page builder. We use plugins where they fit and fix the underlying code where they can’t.
