Nonprofit marketing helps charities and community organizations raise donations, recruit volunteers and fill programs and events. TLG Marketing builds donation and volunteer pages, applies for and manages Google Ad Grants within Google’s rules, runs email and social campaigns that tell your story with consent, and tracks every gift and sign-up back to the campaign that produced it.
How supporters find and choose a cause
People reach a nonprofit by different paths. Some search for help, or for a way to help, such as volunteer shifts nearby or a place to donate goods. Others arrive through a friend’s post, an event or a news story, and check your website before they give. Donors want to see what their money does, how you are governed and how easy it is to give, while volunteers want the time commitment and a simple sign-up. Giving follows a calendar too, with Giving Tuesday, year-end appeals and your own events bringing the busiest weeks.
Google Ad Grants, explained
Through Ad Grants, Google for Nonprofits gives eligible organizations up to 10,000 US dollars a month in Google Search text ads. In the US, eligibility starts with IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) status, and government entities, hospitals and health care organizations, and schools and universities are excluded, though their foundations and philanthropic arms can apply. Your website must sit on a domain you own, run on HTTPS throughout and keep its focus on your mission, with any sales limited and disclosed. Once approved, Google’s policies require conversion tracking, a minimum click-through rate and specific keywords. We handle the application, build the campaigns and check the account every month so it stays active.
What TLG builds for nonprofits
- Donation pages. Short forms, a monthly giving option, wallet payments where your processor supports them, and a thank-you flow that confirms each gift.
- Volunteer and event sign-ups. Forms connected to your volunteer software or CRM, with confirmation and reminder emails.
- Stories and video. Impact stories, program videos and annual report pages through our video production team, with written consent from anyone pictured.
- Email and social. Welcome series for new donors, appeals and updates through email marketing, plus social media posts that thank supporters by name only with permission.
Reports show donations, recurring gifts, volunteer sign-ups and event registrations by campaign. TLG’s clients include the USO.

// Questions
Nonprofit marketing: common questions
Is our organization eligible for Google Ad Grants?
In the US you need 501(c)(3) status recognized by the IRS, an approved Google for Nonprofits account, and a website on a domain you own, served entirely over HTTPS and focused on your mission. Google for Nonprofits excludes government entities, hospitals and health care organizations, and schools and universities, though their charitable foundations and philanthropic arms can qualify. We review your site against Google's website policy before you apply.
What keeps an Ad Grants account active?
Google's Ad Grants policies require valid conversion tracking that records at least one conversion a month, an account-wide click-through rate of at least five percent, keywords specific enough to show intent, at least two ad groups per campaign and two sitelinks, and a reply to the annual program survey. Missing the click-through rate two months in a row can deactivate the account, so we check every requirement monthly.
Can you help with Giving Tuesday and year-end appeals?
Yes. Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and the last weeks of December are when many donors give, so we plan those campaigns early. That means a clear goal or matching gift message, a donation page tested well ahead, email and social sequences, and Ad Grants ads pointing to the appeal.
How much does digital marketing cost?
It depends on your market, your goals and which channels you need. Tell us your monthly budget on the form and we'll recommend the mix that budget can support.
Do I need every channel?
No. Many businesses start with one or two channels, usually search and a better website, and add more once those produce leads.
How do you report results?
You get regular reports on spend, leads and cost per lead by channel, so you can see what each dollar produced.
