TLG Marketing helps Virginia businesses rank on Google in Northern Virginia, Richmond, Hampton Roads, Charlottesville, the Shenandoah Valley and Southwest Virginia. Our work spans Business Profiles, pages for the cities and counties you serve, and reports that connect search to calls and form leads. From our office in Long Beach, California, we work with Virginia clients remotely.

How Virginia searches differ

Virginia’s regions have little in common beyond the state line, and searches reflect that:

  • Northern Virginia is a federal and tech market. Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun counties are full of government contractors, the Pentagon and the data centers around Ashburn, and many B2B buyers there search for specialized firms.
  • Hampton Roads is a Navy region. Naval Station Norfolk, the Newport News shipyard and other bases bring military families who move often and pick providers quickly, while Virginia Beach adds summer tourists.
  • Cities stand apart from counties. Virginia’s independent cities are separate from the counties around them, so a customer may search for the City of Fairfax or Fairfax County and expect different results.
  • Inland regions have their own anchors. Richmond has state government and corporate headquarters, Charlottesville and Blacksburg center on UVA and Virginia Tech, and the Shenandoah Valley and Southwest Virginia rely on farming, manufacturing and outdoor tourism.

Working with TLG from anywhere in Virginia

We set up each Virginia market separately. Every location gets its own Business Profile, and pages use both the city and county names your customers know, along with places like Reston, Tysons or Short Pump. Hampton Roads businesses get pages for the cities they serve, from Virginia Beach to Newport News. In Northern Virginia, we also check whether Spanish, Korean or Vietnamese pages would reach more of your customers.

One report shows rankings and leads from every Virginia location, split by region. Our local SEO page explains how profiles, citations and city pages fit together.

// Questions

SEO in Virginia: common questions

Do you work with businesses across Virginia?

Yes. Virginia businesses from Alexandria to Abingdon work with TLG remotely, meeting by video and checking results in shared dashboards maintained from Long Beach, California.

How do Virginia’s independent cities affect local SEO?

They create pairs of places that customers and Google treat as different locations, such as Roanoke and Roanoke County, or Richmond and the Henrico County suburbs around it. We make sure your site, Business Profile and citations name the right jurisdictions and cover both where you serve them.

How long does SEO take to work?

Most sites see movement within three to six months; competitive searches take longer. Your roadmap sets expectations search by search, so you know what to expect and when.

How much do SEO services cost?

It depends on how competitive your market is and how much work your site needs. Tell us your monthly budget on the form and we’ll show you what it can realistically achieve.

Will you work on my existing website?

Yes. We work on WordPress, ecommerce platforms and custom-built sites. If the site itself is holding you back, our developers can fix it or rebuild it.

What do you need from me to get started?

Access to your website, Google Search Console and Google Analytics, and a 30-minute call about your customers, services and goals.
