BigCommerce SEO helps stores on the BigCommerce platform rank their categories and products in Google, which gets harder as a catalog grows. TLG Marketing configures URL settings and redirects, keeps faceted search filters from flooding the index, edits Stencil templates for clean markup and schema, and writes category content, then tracks organic orders and B2B quote requests.

Built for stores with scale

BigCommerce suits merchants with big catalogs, wholesale pricing or more than one storefront. Those same features create SEO work that a small shop never faces:

  • Faceted search. Filtering by brand, size, price and rating produces URL combinations by the thousand. Left alone, Google spends its time crawling filters instead of products.
  • Deep category trees. Products buried four or five clicks from the homepage tend to be crawled less often.
  • Shared supplier copy. Distributors and multi-brand retailers often publish the same descriptions as everyone else selling the line.
  • Multiple storefronts. Similar catalogs on separate storefronts need clear canonical tags so they don’t compete with each other.

What we do on BigCommerce

We start with a crawl of your store and your Search Console data to see which pages Google indexes and which it skips. From there we:

  • Set URL and redirect rules. Choose a product and category URL format, then manage 301 redirects whenever items move or retire.
  • Control filters. Decide which filtered views deserve to rank, such as a brand within a category, and keep the rest out of the index.
  • Fix Stencil templates. Headings, breadcrumbs, product schema and load times, edited by developers in the theme files.
  • Write category content. Copy for top categories and fresh descriptions for your best-selling products.

Tied to orders and accounts

We report organic revenue by landing page and, for B2B stores, count quote requests and trade account sign-ups as leads. If you’re moving onto BigCommerce, our website migration team plans redirects before launch. For platform-neutral catalog strategy, see ecommerce SEO, and for selling to business buyers, B2B SEO.

// Questions

BigCommerce SEO: common questions

Which BigCommerce URL structure is best for SEO?

For most stores, short, readable product URLs without category folders are easiest to maintain, because products can move between categories without their address changing. If your store already ranks on another structure, we weigh the cost of redirects before changing anything.

Do you work with BigCommerce B2B stores?

Yes. Wholesale catalogs behind a login can’t rank, so we focus SEO on the public category, product and resource pages that attract new trade buyers, and we track quote and account requests as leads.

Can you help if traffic dropped after moving to BigCommerce?

We start by finding the cause. Drops after a move usually come from missing redirects, changed URLs or content that didn’t make the trip. We compare the old site’s URLs against the new store, add 301 redirects for the gaps and restore missing content.

How long does SEO take to work?

Most sites see movement within three to six months; competitive searches take longer. Your roadmap sets expectations search by search, so you know what to expect and when.

How much do SEO services cost?

It depends on how competitive your market is and how much work your site needs. Tell us your monthly budget on the form and we’ll show you what it can realistically achieve.

Will you work on my existing website?

Yes. We work on WordPress, ecommerce platforms and custom-built sites. If the site itself is holding you back, our developers can fix it or rebuild it.

What do you need from me to get started?
